Commissioner Nic Wilson
Nic Wilson is your Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) for the Single Member District (SMD) 8F01 representing east Navy Yard from 3rd Street, SE to 11th Street, SE and Virginia Ave to the Anacostia River. His main focus as Commissioner will be connecting the community to its city government with
plans to improve traffic safety, work with DPR to increase programming at the Arthur Capper Recreation Center, work with city officials to reduce neighborhood crime, and add additional enrichments for Van Ness Elementary students where he is a former Parent Teacher Organization Board Member.
Nic has strived to make sure underrepresented constituencies have a voice and has worked along side governments, non-profits, and the private sector to make improvements in the neighborhoods where he has lived. He has made a life-long commitment to service from helping local families in need to fighting to alleviate poverty internationally. He has expertise in long-range government planning, programming, budgeting, public policy, alternative dispute resolution, governance, and budgetary assessments.
Nic has a history of working with the NAACP, DC Urban League, Habitat for Humanity, Big Brother/Big Sisters National Capitol Region, HandsOn Greater DC Cares, the Ronald McDonald House, Feed the Hungry Missions, National Kidney Foundation, Meals on Wheels, the Rotary Club, Hospice, United Way, the American Heart Association, Urban Alliance DC, the Van Ness Elementary Parent Teacher Organization Board, in addition to numerous other neighborhood and civic organizations. He is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and a former Obama Administration Appointee.
Nic graduated from the University of Kentucky where he received a B.Sc. in Political Science and a M.A. in Diplomacy and International Economics. He lives in Capitol Quarter with his wife Keon and two sons, Nicholas (10) and Maxum (8).
